BBC R4 Documentary - 'Chasing Hares' Presented by James Crowden Broadcast November 16, 2004 Coded from tape at 128/44.1 A few years ago some guys making a film about Dartmoor churches noticed an odd symbol made from three hares & a triangle carved in relief at the union of some trusses in the roof of South Tawton Church, Devon.South Tawton, Devon Once the picture was published, ceiling bosses with a similar motif were found in other west country churches. A couple of examples: Corfe Mullen, Dorset Broadclyst, Devon Then people noticed them further afield: Wissembourg, Alsace And not only on ceilings: Cast bell detail, Kloster Haina, Germany Reliquery detail, Trier, Germany Embossed Tray, Iran This programme conjectures about what it all means.
