Description

 							Since Memorial Day weekend and Firefox 29 Avast will not install its online security add-on properly on a
completely fresh install of Firefox that never had Avast on it before.
  
  It was frustrating not being able
to get it to work like it does for chrome and internet explorer. I waited for firefox to fix it but after waiting so
long I decided to figure out why I could still install Avast on the new Firefox that had Avast working on it previously.
After finding out how to get the Avast plug-in working right I thought I would try and give something back to others on
here who have shared with me. THIS FILE IS JUST MY OLD FIREFOX PREFERENCES JAVASCRIPT FILE.. that I found in my app data
folders. It will have Bing set to homepage, new tab, and search bar as well as no history and other options that I had
previously set. It also allows javascript to run on the Avast Online Security options page instead of a blank nothing
appearing besides.. allowing the security plug-in to function properly again like it still does on Chrome and Internet
Explorer.
  
  First "show hidden files" in control panel>folder options>view tab. Install Firefox if it
isn't already installed. Install avast. Restart computer and finish installing Avast. Start Firefox and exit out if
Firefox didnt already start after the install so it will create the "user name">app
data(hidden)>roaming>mozilla folder. Now go into the mozilla folder>firefox>profiles>profilename.default
and DELETE ALL FILES THAT ARE NOT IN A FOLDER FROM THE profilename.default FOLDER. If you don't delete all the files
(not the folders) then copy and pasting this preferences file won't do anything. ALL THE FILES WILL BE REMADE WHEN
FIREFOX STARTS BACK UP. copy and paste this prefs.js javascript file inside the 
  profilename.default folder.
Start Firefox again and install the Avast plugin. Firefox will restart and IT WORKS AGAIN. Go back into control
panel>folder options>view tab and click Don't show hidden files, folders, or drives again.
  
  If you
already have Firefox and Avast installed just deleted the said files and paste this in the folder before starting
Firefox. MAKE A BACK-UP OF YOUR BOOKMARKS FROM (Bookmarks>Show All Bookmarks>Import and Backup) before deleting
the files because Firefox will start like it is starting for the first time after deleting the profile.default FILES.
  
  
  I know this was bothering me and I don't know why Firefox dont want to work with Avast anymore. If
there is anyone who is as frustrated with it as I was... here you go.
